A gel compsn. contains (a) a new Al Mg OH-cpd. with laminar structure, of formula AlxMgy(OH)35-zRz.nH2O, and (b) an organic, lipophilic cpd. which is liq. at 20 deg.C. x = 3-9; y = 4-13; z = 3-5; 3x + 2y = 35; R = 2-22C residue of a monocarboxylic acid, RCOO(-). (a) The component forms 5-25 (10-20) wt.% of the gel. (b) The component forms 95-75% of the gel, and is a vegetable or animal fat, oil or wax, a paraffin hydrocarbon, a silicone oil, an aliphatic or aromatic ester, or a higher alcohol or ther. (c) The gel may contain up to 20 (up to 1) wt.% w.r.t. (a), of a polar additive, esp. a water/(m)ethanol mixt., acetone, propylene carbonate or polyoxyethylene (4)-lauryl alcohol.
