PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF SODIUM AMIDES

A process for the preparation of sodium amides which comprises reacting a dispersion of finely divided sodium metal in an inert hydrocarbon with an organic primary or secondary amine, the reaction being performed under anhydrous conditions and under an inert atmosphsere in the presence of a single electron transfer agent and in a hydrocarbon-containing reaction medium.
