The linee installation vehicle has a wheeled chassis (10) mored along the track at a griven line installation velocity, with an operator cab (11) at the front and a height adjustable working platform (13). The electric line wire (2) and the carrier line (3) are paid out from respective cable drums (33,34). Each drum cooperates with a cable tensioning device (37,38) and a guide roller (18,19) attached to a height adjustable pivoted arm (17) controlled by a lifting device (20) for ensuring that the line wire (2) and the carrier line (3) are maintained at a constant height and at a defined relative spacing. The line wire (2) and/or the carrier line (3) are strung between spaced carrier masts.
