<p>The present invention relates to the therapeutic uses of thiol-oxidizing agents and of sulfhydryl-alkylating agents. The sulfhydryl-alkylating agents are maleimide and its derivatives. Therapeutic compositions comprising such agents are also provided. In a specific embodiment, the therapeutic agent is a thiol-oxidizing agent such as a diazene dicarbonyl compound. In another embodiment, the therapeutic agent is maleimide or a derivative thereof. In yet another embodiment, the invention provides methods of treating cystic fibrosis, by administering a therapeutic agent of the invention.</p> |
