The current converter is arranged about a conductor at high potential with an external thin-walled current conducting pipe section. The voltage drop along the pipe section is a measure of the short circuit current. For measuring high frequency components the inner current has a recess covered by the pipe section which is connected to it and has end connections to a transducer circuit inside the inner conductor. The transducer signal is fed to an evaluation circuit at earth potential.
