The bottle inspection machine contains several successive inspection sections for performing different types of inspections. A sorting station at the end of the inspection path delivers the bottles to different conveyor paths according to the inspection results. Test bottles can be fed into the inspection path from a magazine and fed back to it via a closed loop for test bottles.An auxiliary conveyor section completing the closed loop is in the form of a rotatable bottle carrier (13) with peripheral bottle holder places (T). In the test state these holder places form a continuous chain with the carriers (7-12) forming the inspection path.
