<p>PURPOSE: To perform quantization with adaptability, to improve image compression and to improve image quality by defining the common standardized coefficient of the part of the quantization chart of plural image components and transmitting the common standardized coefficient along with the image components as an additional component. CONSTITUTION: Image data 402 are converted to a minimum coding unit(MCU) 404 and the MCU is converted to DCT(discrete cosine transformation) display. Quantization side wave band information with the adaptability is generated and the side wave band information is used for helping the quantization of a DCT component. Quantized DCT information 410 is interleaved by the quantization side wave band information 408 with the adaptability. Then, interleaved data are supplied to an entropy coder model in a block 414 and supplied to an entropy coder further in the block 416. Thus, by transmitting the additional component, that is a pseudo component displayed as the component 'A,' the quantization with the adaptability is performed.</p> |
