摘要 Mfr. of soft iron powder from iron powder produced by the water jet process (resulting in hardened particles which are at least partially coated by an oxide skin), takes place by means of continous reduction and annealing. The powder passes through a treatment chamber consisting of heating, reduction and cooling zones. A reduction gas is continuously fed into the chamber,while the reduction products (water vapour, carbon dioxide) are exhausted from it. The powder subjected to treatment has a carbon content from 0.2 to 0.8%. The powder layer over during its passage through the treatment chamber is continuously mixed and turned over at least in the reduction zone. The temp. in the heating and reduction zones is 750 to 900 deg. C, while the stay of the powder in the reduction zone is chosen to be sufficient to reduce the carbon content at least to 0.03 wt.%. USE/ADVANTAGE - In mfr. of prods. by sinter metallurgy. It is faster and results in energy and reduction gas savings.
