The floor (5) of the trailer (3) has a number of adjacent parallel elements (7,8,9) connected together in groups of three. Any one element is flanked by elements of the other two groups. Spacing is sufficiently close to prevent leakage of bulk cargo. All three groups advance simultaneously to move the load. This takes two thirds of the cycle time. During the remaining third of the cycle, all three groups are moved rapidly back to their starting position. A 120 degree phase shift between the motion of each group leaves the load stationary.
