<p>A fuel system for a compression ignition engine of the direct injection type and having a capacity of about two litres per engine cylinder comprises a unit injector having a multi spray hole nozzle (16) and an electromagnetically operable spill valve (18). The spray hole size is reduced to ensure a high injection pressure and the period of fuel delivery is extended.</p> |
