PURPOSE: To provide a light deformation member capable of being manufactured easily in an energy absorber absorbing energy by the deformation of a pipe body when being received compression loads in the axial direction, by constituting it with two pipe parts with different diameters whose bodies are glued and connected to each other. CONSTITUTION: This deformation member 1 consists of a pipe body 4 of a circular cross section held in two housing parts 2, 3, fixed to, for example, a motor vehicle body structure by a suitable means such as gluing and welding. This pipe body 4 is composed of at least two pipe parts 5, 6 having almost same length and different diameters D1>D2. Each of the pipe parts 5, 6 is made of an aluminium alloy, and mutually fitted in a connection section 7. A pipe end region 8 inside the pipe part 5 is inserted into a pipe end region 9 outside the pipe part 6, and they are connected to each other by an annular adhesion connection part 10 comprising a single or binary component binding agent. Such a deformation member is applied to the handle boss part of a steering apparatus, etc. |
