A worm gear transmission drive is designed with a spindle having the gear section (1) and a pair of bearing locations (2,20). The spindle locates on a bearing block that has three locating elements (6a,6b,6c). One of these has a formed profile with a 'U' shape with a projection (60) possessing a spring characteristic. When the spindle rotates the spring action maintains an axial force. During change-over in direction the spring action eliminates noise. USE/ADVANTAGE - Suitable for electrical window lifter and seat position setter in motor vehicle. Reduces noise in transmission. Easily mounted. Forces exceeding normal, e.g. resulting from crash or break-in, broken up in gearing.
