PURPOSE:To provide the artificial blood vessel imparted with elasticity to puncture by combining a porous polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) tube with an elastic resin while maintaining various characteristics of the porous PTFE tube, such as surface characteristics, bioadaptability, flexibility and tensile strength. CONSTITUTION:This artificial blood vessel has the structure which is formed by laminating the elastic resin layer 2 on the inside surface of the porous PTFE tube 1 and in which the elastic resin layer 2 partly infiltrates the inside of the porous spaces on the inside surface side of the porous PTFE tube 1. This process for production of the artificial blood vessel having the structure laminated with the elastic resin layer 2 on the inside surface of the porous PTFE tube 1 consists in inserting the tube of the elastic resin 2 into the cavity of the porous PTFE tube 1, then heating the tube to melt a part or the whole of the tube of the elastic resin 2 and infiltrating a part of the molten elastic resin 2 into the porous spaces of the porous PTFE tube 1 from its inside surface side. |
