<p>PURPOSE:To reduce unreacted raw materials such as alcohol and polyethylene glycol as a by-product and obtain the subject adduct by reacting an active hydrogen-containing organic compound with an alkylene oxide in the presence of a specific aluminic acid salt catalyst. CONSTITUTION:An active hydrogen-containing organic compound (e.g. n-octanol, phenol or ethylene glycol) is reacted with an alkylene oxide (e.g. ethylene oxide) in the presence of a catalyst of a salt (a metallic ion of Ba<2+>, Na<+> or K<+>) with aluminic acid (preferably used in an amount of 0.1-5wt.% based on the produced adduct), preferably at 120-180 deg.C and 1-6kg/cm<2>G.</p> |
