PURPOSE:To provide a sealing material for hydraulic equipment, excellent in flexibility and abrasion resistance and usable at a high temperature under a high pressure by filling a metal and/or gas ion to a surface of a seal ring made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) in specific thickness. CONSTITUTION:Energy of 10 eV to 6 MeV is applied a metal ion such as titanium, chromium, copper and molybdenum with respect to a ring made of only PTFE, or a gas ion such as nitrogen and carbon with respect to a PTFE seal ring including glass fiber and metal powder, and the ring surface is filled in at least a side surface in thickness of 10-50000 A. Consequently, a layer made of metal and PTFE, nitride or carbonate is formed on the outermost layer, thus obtaining a seal excellent in flexibility and abrasion resistance. |
