PURPOSE:To eliminate the mismatching between an input torque to an automatic transmission and an engaging hydraulic pressure so as to reduce shock upon speed change, by inhibiting the output characteristic from being changed when the time of changing the output characteristic and the time of decreasing the torque are simultaneously determined upon speed change. CONSTITUTION:In a vehicle in which an automatic transmission A is coupled to an engine E which can select a plurality of output characteristics for one and the same throttle opening degree, and which can control the lowering of torque in accordance with an output torque upon speed change, A speed change determining means 1 is provided in a control device C for controlling the engine E and the automatic transmission A. Further, an output characteristic change determined means 2 for determining that the output characteristic should be changed, and a torque lowering control execution determining means 3 for determining that the torque lowering control for the engine E accompanied with a speed change should be changed are provided in the control device C. Further, the time of changing the output characteristic and the time of lowering torque are determined upon speed change, an output characteristic change inhibiting means 4 inhibits the output characteristic from being changed. |
