PURPOSE:To provide new antibiotics, piericidin B5 and piericidin B5-N-oxide having inositolphospholipid metabolism rotation-inhibitory activity and cancerous cell proliferation-inhibitory activity. CONSTITUTION:The objective antibiotics, piericidin B5 of formula I and piericidin B5-N-oxide of formula II. The compound of the formula I or II can be obtained by culture, respectively, of piericidin B5- or piericidin B5-N-oxide- productive bacteria belonging to Streptomyces (e.g. strain MJ288-OF3) to effect accumulation of the aimed substance, which is then taken. |
