<p>PURPOSE:To stably reduce the concn. of halogenated hydrocarbon contained in gas after treatment to as low a level as possible near to zero by bringing halogenated hydrocarbon into contact with a compsn. containing a specific aprotic polar compound and alkoxide represented by a specific formula to decompose the same. CONSTITUTION:Gas containing halogenated hydrocarbon is brought into contact with a compsn. containing a 5- or 6-membered cyclic aprotic polar compound containing nitrogen at the alpha-position of the carbonyl group thereof and alkoxide represented by formula MOR [wherein M is sodium or potassium and R is a 1-4C alkyl group] to decompose halogenated hydrocarbon. As the typical aprotic polar compound, 1,3-dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, 1,3-dimethyl-2-oxohexahydropyrimidine or a mixture of them is designated. This compound is an excellent absorbing solvent of halogenated hydrocarbon.</p> |
