PURPOSE: To provide a valve tappet that forms one structural unit integrated with a changeable adjusting element. CONSTITUTION: An adjusting element 5 is formed as a solid component having a cylindrical outer peripheral surface and parallel end faces. Furthermore, projections (boss 4) are formed on a cup-shaped housing, these projections cooperate with the cylindrical outer peripheral surface to retain the adjusting element by interlocking or by force engagement on the cup-shaped housing.
