PURPOSE:To produce the subject maintenance-free sliding contact material excellent in sliding properties by immersing a sintered material in an organic solution, subsequently carbonizing the absorbed organic solution by heating again and certainly impregnating the outer periphery with carbon as a lubricant. CONSTITUTION:The objective sliding contact material in which at least the peripheral part is impregnated with carbon is obtained by immersing a sintered material sintered into a prescribed shape in an organic solution or applying an organic solution thereto and subsequently heating the sintered material again for the purpose of carbonization of the absorbed organic solution. Specifically, Ag alloy powder mainly composed of Ag and containing 0.3wt.% Ni is charged in a sintering mold and sintered in an atmosphere of H2+N2 mixture. The resultant sintered material is then heated in a vaseline solution and the sintered material impregnated with a sufficient amount of vaseline is subsequently heated at 450 deg.C so as to carbonize vaseline. |
