PURPOSE:To solve problems in crystallization steps of alpha-L-aspartyl-L- phenylalanine methyl ester, i.e. problems of solid-liquid separability of a crystalline slurry, scaling on heat transfer surfaces, etc. CONSTITUTION:In a method for cooling a solution of alpha-L-aspartyl-L- phenylalanine methyl ester and carrying out crystallization by its indirect heat exchange with a refrigerant while stirring the solution, the cooling by circulation of the refrigerant is performed while continuously dropping an aqueous solution of the alpha-L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester into a crystallizing solution of the alpha-L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine methyl ester to keep the temperature difference between the refrigerant and the crystallizing solution at <=20 deg.C. |
