A flexible impermeable drainage bag (11) for collecting biological fluid (urine). It includes a port (18) communicating with the drainage bag interior, and free-flowing, water-absorbing, water-swellable, water-insoluble, gel-forming polymer particles (20) disposed in said drainage bag. The polymer particles (formed of polyacrylamide) are capable of absorbing many times their weight of water to form expanded gel particles capable of substantially immobilizing toxic bacteria present in said drainage bag. |
