The apparatus automates the process of welding the cathode filament of the fluorescent display tube in a support body on a base board, to regulate the welding quality. The automatic apparatus comprises a lift cylinder (8) having a holder (10) for fixing an extended end of the filament (D) wound around a plurality of spools (2); a reciprocating cylinder (38), connected with a gripper (36) gripping the extended end of the filament (D), reciprocatably moving the holder (10); a pallete (20) fixing the base board (A) supplied through a channel (30) crossly arranged with the reciprocating cylinder (38); a stopper (48) checking or releasing the base board (A); a pair of welders (28) welding the filament in touch with the support body (E) of the base board (A).
