PURPOSE:To obtain a multicomponent metal chalcogenide useful as material for solar battery, nonlinear optical material, light emitting material, superconducting material, etc., by incorporating several kinds of element. CONSTITUTION:Powdery elements or powdery metal chalcogenide having a compsn. corresponding to the formula I (wherein A is at least one kind of element selected from Bi, Sb, and As; B is at least one kind of element selected from Ti, V, Nb, and Te; C is at least one kind of element selected from S, Se, and Te; 0.8<x< 1.2; 0.8<=y<=1.2; 2.4<=z<=3.6), the formula II (wherein A' is at least one kind of element selected from Pb, Sn, and Ge, 0<=a<=1), or the formula III (wherein B is V), are sealed in a heat-resistant, oxidation resistant vessel in vacuum, and a multicomponent metal chalcogenide having a compsn. expressed by the formula I, II or III is obtd. by heating at 400-1200 deg.C. |
