The method involves adding routing and broadcast information to the internal cell head of the communications system. This enables retransmission of cells in the coupling stages (KS) and determination of the respective junction lines (VL) to the next coupling stage, or the path to which the newly transmitted cell is to be transferred. The broadcast information is used to indicate a path branch in the respective coupling stage, and to cause a new transmission of the respective cell. In each coupling stage, the information relating to the respective stage is removed and the remaining information is added to the cell head formed in each coupling stage, for transfer to the following stage via the junction line. ADVANTAGE - Allows connection of cells via n-stage coupling structure, while maintaining self-control principle. Eliminates memory requirement for path branches.
