In the computer-aided production of technical engineering documentation for workpieces on CAD systems, a deductive transition is made starting from an overall drawing in hierarchical steps to individual sub-drawings. In order to simplify the production of the individual sub-drawings or, if appropriate, for the better conversion of the individual sub-drawings for production purposes, it is proposed that initially the basic geometry of the individual parts be determined and that the basic geometry of at least one individual part be subsequently supplemented with standardised record sets, conditioned in terms of functional or production technology, in the form of predefined shape elements, such as for example blind-hole threaded bores, which can be called up.
