The suction gripper has a housing (1) which has a hollow space (2) connected to a suction connection (3) and a housing side at least partly open. A seal (7) encloses the opening or openings for sealed location on the object to be gripped. The seal is of soft-elastic foam material and through its edge areas no air or only air with increased resistance is suckable. The foam material of the seal has practically only open cells. In the opening or openings of the housing side sieve or grid-type support means (8,9) are arranged which act as stop for the deviating part of the foam material when the gripper is firmly sucked against the object. The housing side with the opening or openings has a closed wall extension projecting around the housing hollow chamber wall. The foam material body covers the housing side wall and is at least partly fixed to the wall extension. USE/ADVANTAGE - A suction gripper which will firmly adhere to surfaces which are less flat and less smooth.
