MEMORY BASED VIDEO LINE INTERPOLATOR INVENTOR: John Stephen Wood 18300 Carriage Drive #20 Morgan Hill, CA 95037 ABTRACT A technique for converting information stored in a video signal (progressive or interlaced scan) at a first line rate into another video signal at a second line rate is disclosed. Included is a method of interline interpolation based upon a memory device which includes all possible interline interpolation values at a number of previously determined phases. A memory based address generation circuit is used to determine which lines in memory will be used for interpolation. The same circuit is also used for interline phase determination. Modifications of the basic embodiment are provided to handle the cases of non-interlaced to interlaced scan conversion and to provide low pass filtering at the same time.
