METHOD OF AND SYSTEM FOR TRANSMITTING AND RECEIVING DIGITALLY ENCODED VIDEO IMAGES

PURPOSE: To obtain the method and system recording a video image with excellent image quality for reproduction at a higher speed by dividing an image into a plurality of blocks and specifying an image increment area for each block. CONSTITUTION: A first code word CW1-Bi of each data block DCT-Bi (i=1...N) is sent at first after a synchronizing code and then a 2nd code word CW2-Bi and a 3rd code word CW3-Bi of each block are sequentially sent. If a transmission error takes place, no code word succeeding to a next code word is recovered but the code word before the error is not affected. So long as no error takes place in the transmission of the 1st N code word, each 1st code word CW (that is, a DC level) of an optional block of a group at least is recovered. Thus, the image quality is more excellent than a conventional method not receiving blocks at all. As the occurrence of the error is slow, more detailed image of each block is reconfigured.
