A group of lamps, of adjustable height, are supported on two vertical guide bars (42,43). The lower ends of these guide bars (42,43) are supported on a tube (10) of electrically insulating material and the tube (10) is mounted on a circular base. The upper ends of the bars are connected to a similar tube. This tube houses a compression spring which presses a support disc against the ceiling and so clamps the assembly of bars and tubes in place. The lamps (53) are attached to fittings (52) which slide on the bars which are not covered with insulating material. Each lamp (52) can be clamped to the bars at the required height. The bars are connected to a transformer with an output of 12 volts.
