The method and the device find application in building at sites with continuous building for the production of clay blocks of better quality and more uniform material distribution. Under the method the form is filled with the material to be formed and a force is applied on it for preliminary pressing. This force is less than the main pressing force that is applied afterwards to the material for forming. The device has a second press (11) with a second punch (13) whose direction of travel coincides with the direction of travel of the first punch (12). A control system (9) for the applied force for preliminary material packing on the material to be formed by means of the first punch (12) of the main press (10) is included in the main press (10).
