The apparatus is intended for use in systems for process control in poultry farming. It provides improved accuracy of measurement the weights of live fowl and in the determination of mean live weights of bird flocks, and does not permit the weight to rest on more than one perch. The apparatus consists of a mechanical structure that includes a cantilever beam (1) and tensoresistive primary transducers (2 and 4) , attached to connecting plate (3) and perch (5) and cantilevered on bearing supports (6); plate (7), which carries the electromagnetically controlled by electromagnet (8) latch for perch (9), is fixed to the stationary side of the pillow blocks. Electromagnet (8) is switched by an electronic circuit which receives an input from tensoresistive primary transducers (2 and 4). The electronic system includes analogue amplifier (10), differentiator (11), comparator (13), measurement unit (16), generator unit (12), delay unit (14), time reference unit (17), logic unit (15), and latch electromagnet control unit (18).<IMAGE>
