A means of locating a spacer is provided so that it can be accurately positioned between two members, e.g. the panels of a central heating radiator. The spacer (20) is a generally annular ring having a central aperture (21) and radial passageways (22) from its exterior wall (25) to its interior wall (24). The spacer has circumferential location means (23A, 23B). Guide means (50, 52, figure 7) position the spacer by means of the location means into a predetermined orientation and location between the two members. Punch means can then punch a hole through one of the members whereby the spacer is gripped by the inturned edges of the hole between the radial passageways.
