摘要 PURPOSE:To enable continuous production of an optical transmission body of uniform quality in which the refractive index distribution near the outside circumferential part is less distorted by passing an additive through the inside of a diffusing means in the form of gas or mist in the direction where an org. base material passes. CONSTITUTION:If the bottom end of a stainless steel pipe is preliminarily inserted into a ''Teflon'' tube 4 from above, the front end of a prepolymer fluid is united to the bottom end of the stainless pipe and the front end of a transparent gel object 11 arrives at the bottom end of a diffusing pipe 7. The atomized monomer is preliminarily introduced into a diffusing chamber 11 and if the contact time thereof is selected to the extent at which the diffusion of the monomer arrives at the center of the object 18 or slightly larger than said extent, the object 18 subjected to the post heat treatment stage has such a refractive index distribution in which the refractive index increases or decreases in approximate proportion to the square of the radial distance from the center toward the outside circumferential surface from the center thereof. Such object has a convex or concave lens effect. The object subjected to the prescribed diffusion is conducted into a heat treating pipe 20 where the object is exposed to a nitrogen atmosphere.
