If the individual magnetic blocks of a magnetic separator are magnetized according to a special rule (? = - n ?i), the magnetic field distribution in the outer area of the magnetic separator reaches an optimum. There also exists the freedom to select the number of poles, the size of a sector and the mass of the necessary magnetic material according to requirements and, in spite of this, to retain the field pattern still favourable under these circumstances.
