摘要 PURPOSE:To improve the usage of active material and the life characteristics of a battery by providing carbon black with a liquid absorption of a specified value or less as determined by a di-n-butyl phthalate oil absorption, and generating tetrabasic sulphate in a positive electrode active material. CONSTITUTION:Lead powders prepared by the ball mill method is mixed with water and kneaded before being mixed with dilute sulfuric acid water and further kneaded. A specified amount of carbon black with a DBP oil absorption of 350ml/100g or more and then water is subsequently mixed with the paste so that it becomes as hard as its former state before the addition of carbon black. After being filled in a grid body comprising a lead-antimony series alloy, the paste is matured and dried in an atmosphere with a temperature of 80 deg.C and an RH of 95% to generate tetrabasic sulphate in a positive electrode active material. Thus, the presence of the carbon black with a liquid absorption of 350ml/100g or more improves formation efficiency and active material usage efficiency. In addition, the tetrabasic sulphate generated in the positive electrode active material improves the life characteristics.
