PURPOSE: To obtain integrated optical parts which are so designed as to assure the mechanical and optical characteristics over a predetermined wide temp. range and have the resistance satisfactory to the influence of a high-humidity atmosphere and the influence of aging. CONSTITUTION: This integrated optical parts include at least one waveguides 5 which are integrated within a substrate 1 and are connected to the end of an optical fiber 2. This optical fiber 2 is adhered by the substrate 1 by a first adhesive drop 7 and a second adhesive drop 8 respectively in the regions parted from its end and the optical fiber 2. While the adhesive forming the first drop 7 has the glass transition temp. within the predetermined operating temp. range of the parts, the adhesive forming the second drop 8 generally has the glass transition temp. higher than this operating temp. range. Differential expansion is thereby absorbed in such a manner as to maintain the optical continuity of the adhered parts of the fiber/the waveguide and the mechanical strength of the adhered parts of the fiber/the substrate. |
