<p>Products (P) are carried in a container (12) and arranged in staggered rows (R1-R4),(r1-r4) in the container sockets. The container is brought to a labelling station (14) by a conveyor belt (10) and it's arrival is detected by a sensor (32). The station comprises a gantry (16) which bears a trolley (18). The trolley supports automatic labelling heads (22,24) and is able to move transversely across the gantry whose height is controlled by jacks (26). The vertical and transverse movements of the labelling heads and the conveyor belt motor drive (15) are coordinated by a processor (28) such that the staggered rows of products are accurately labelled.</p> |
