TAPERED, SPIRALLY WOUND FILTER CARTRIDGE AND METHOD OF MAKING SAME

A spirally wound filter cartridge for use in a filtration device having a filter cartridge housing with a tapered side wall. The filter cartridge includes a sheet of filtration material spirally wound around a central permeate tube and includes first and second ends which are different in diametrical dimension resulting in the outer surface of the filter cartridge being tapered from one end to the other. The invention also relates to a method of making the above filter cartridge with tapered sides.
