ZINC NEGATIVE PLATE AND ITS MANUFACTURE AND ZINC-DIOXIDE LEAD-ACID BATTERY

PURPOSE:To provide a zinc negative plate having an amalgam layer in a high fixity without using a large quantity of mercury. CONSTITUTION:By soaking a zinc plate in sulphate solution prepared from In2SO4 aqueous solution, Zn-In alloy layer is formed on the surface of the zinc plate by substitution and deposition of In which is a metal having its melting point lower than that of zinc. Thereafter the zinc plate on which Zn-In alloy layer is formed is soaked in mercuric chloride (HgCl2) aqueous solution. Then the Zn-In alloy layer is amalgamated thereafter an amalgam layer composed of the alloy layer of Zn, In and Hg is formed on the surface of the zinc plate.
