摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain the large-area element by forming a single crystal optical fiber rod consisting of a single crystal optical fiber, an insulator tube and a dielectric substance to fill the gap between both as a constituting unit and integrating plural pieces of such rods. CONSTITUTION:The single crystal optical fiber rod 10 is formed by inserting the single crystal optical fiber 11 into the insulator tube 12 and filling the gap between both with the dielectric substance 13, thereby fixing the fiber and the tube. Plural pieces of the single crystal optical fiber rods 10 are bundled in the state of paralleling the axes thereof and are integrated to a bundle shape. The single crystal optical fibers 11 reinforced with the insulator tubes 12 as the constituting units are integrated and, therefore, the higher mechanical strength than the mechanical strength obtd. by handling the single crystal optical fiber 11 alone is obtd. and handling is improved. The crosstalks between the adjacent single crystal optical fibers 11 are eliminated as compared with the case of mere integration of the single crystal optical fibers 11.
