PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a nickel-hydrogen cell applying sufficient initial activation by a small number of processes, by sealing a sealed cell using a hydrogen storage alloy negative electrode, thereafter leaving the cell as it is for a long period in the room temperature atmosphere in a discharge condition via formation treatment. SOLUTION: A hydrogen storage alloy mainly composed of a laves phase of AB2 system, containing 50wt.% or more preferably Zr-Ni group alloy, is used as a negative electrode, a sealed type nickel-hydrogen cell is manufactured. In this case, after sealing the cell, by at least one time preferably 1 or two times charge/discharge, formation treatment is performed. Next, in a discharge condition releasing hydrogen by the negative electrode, preferably in a condition charged to 10% or less a cell capacity, the cell is left as it is for a period of one week or more in the 20 to 40 deg.C atmosphere. |
