PURPOSE:To attain bending structure for obtaining an optical waveguide with a low loss even in the case of a small radius of curvature. CONSTITUTION:Plural triangular high refractive index areas 20, 21 are formed in the optical waveguide 11 so that the distribution of electromagnetic fields does not run off to the outside in a bending direction by defracting propagated light in the bent waveguide or equivalently improving the refractive index of a bent part. Consequently the low loss optical waveguide 11 with a small bending radius can be obtained and a compact optical waveguide device can be attained. |
