PURPOSE:To enable fusion splicing of optical fibers with high strength. CONSTITUTION:A UV curing resin layer 1 from the terminal up to the point of the required length of the optical fiber is immersed into as welling agent and is thereby removed; thereafter, the exposed amorphous carbon layer 2 is removed by an inorg. material dissolving liquid. The fused part at the front end of the exposed optical fiber 3 is then removed and the optical fiber 3 is coated with the fresh UV curing resin layer 4 of a uniform thickness, by which the UV curing resin layer 1 and the amorphous carbon layer 2 are chemically removed and the required point of the optical fiber 3 is coated with the fresh UV curing resin layer 4. |
