<p>PURPOSE:To attain ease of edit or the like by using only correlation in a pattern so as to code and record a pattern recorded at first and a pattern recorded at a succeeding prescribed pattern interval thereby facilitating retrieval and special reproduction. CONSTITUTION:An entropy coding circuit 92 applies entropy coding to an output of a quantization circuit 86 to apply compression coding to a picture within one frame. In this case, a synthesis value of a frame No.4 and a frame No.7 having a noted frame, e.g. a frame No.5 inbetween of the picture is subject to differential coding as a predicted value. Then a delay circuit 100 outputs local decoding data of in-frame coding of the frame No.7 when a frame No.10 being the 4th frame is inputted and a subtractor 78 subtracts a local decoded value of the frame No.7 from a picture of the frame No.10. The resulting output is subject to compression coding and the decoded value of the frame No.7 three frames before the noted frame No.10 is subject to differential coding as a predicted value.</p> |
