PURPOSE:To obtain an effective receiving state by reducing interference due to a residual component in an energy diffusion signal which can not be completely removed by a clamping circuit. CONSTITUTION:In this high television (TV) receiving equipment for inputting an image signal to which band compressing processing such as multiplex sub- Nyquist sampling is applied, a still image processing circuit 20 executes inserting processing between frames in the image signal and a level compensating circuit 16 compensates a level difference in each field of the image signal inputted to the circuit 20. The circuit 16 is controlled by a control signal generating circuit 17 and turned on/off by a switch 19 based upon an output signal from a reference/non-reference discriminating circuit 18 for detecting a reference/non- reference discriminating code included in the input signal.
