An air conditioner constituting a refrigerating cycle by connecting a compressor, a heat exchanger and an expansion valve in sequence, the air conditioner comprising an indoor unit (14c) allowing a first outdoor unit (15a) using a first refrigerant as an operating refrigerant and a second outdoor unit (15b) using as an operating refrigerant a second refrigerant that is different from the first refrigerant to be connected thereto, and an expansion valve (5) provided in the indoor unit (14c) and adapted to be controlled by instructions from the outdoor units, whereby the control of the refrigerating cycle is performed by changing control values in accordance with the outdoor units connected to the indoor unit, thereby making it possible to obtain an air conditioner that can handle a plurality of refrigerants and can operate using different refrigerants without changing the indoor unit, and a mediun storing operating control programs for the same air conditioner.
