METHOD FOR COMPOUNDING ADDITIVE IN POLYMER MELT

PURPOSE: To obtain a substantially uniform system containing a polymer and an additive by dispersing the additive into a partially volatile liquid vehicle and feeding the dispersion into a vent type extruder to extrude a polymer and then removing the volatile substances through the vent of the extruder. CONSTITUTION: At least one kind of additive is dispersed at first into at least partially volatile liquid vehicle using a dispersant and a stabilizing agent in mixing the additive into a polymer melt. Then the resulted dispersion is fed into a vent type extruder to extrude the polymer. Fed volatile substances are removed through the vent of the extruder to obtain substantially uniform system containing at least the polymer and at least one additive. The additive should be a pigment or others or a mixture of those. The dispersant should be water dispersible/soluble polyamide or its copolymer and others. The stabilizing agent should be polyethoxylate or others.
