PURPOSE:To improve the piezoelectric characteristics of a lead titanate porcelain while preventing the lowering in its Curie temperature. CONSTITUTION:A compacted product formed from the powder of raw materials is sintered into the sintered product of lead titanate, and a palladium paste is coated on the surface of the sintered product 1, the surface being rectangular to the direction of the polarization. The coated sintered product is heated at 900-1200 deg.C to incorporatively form a palladium layer 2 on the surface of the sintered product 1. The palladium is reacted with the lead titanate on the interface between the palladium layer 2 and the sintered product to allow the growth of the particles of the lead titanate. Consequently, the polarization of the particles of the lead titanate is improved and their piezoelectric characteristics are improved. Thereby, the piezoelectric characteristics can be improved without increasing the amount of an additive, i.e., with preventing the lowering of the Curie temperature. |
