PURPOSE:To achieve a good yield in kilning pottery by programming the kilning pattern in which the oxygen concentration or the carbon monoxide concentration in the kiln is determined adjusted and controlled to form an oxidizing or reducing atmosphere easily, and the change with time of setting and controlling the temperature and the oxygen concentration or the carbon monoxide concentration in the kiln is preliminarily so determined. CONSTITUTION:A kiln for ceramic art is provided with shelves 11 inside the firing chamber 1, on which pieces of work to be fired are placed, and with a firing burner 4 by which the inside of the firing chamber 1 is heated at a specified temperature for the firing; to this firing burner 4 gaseous or liquid fuel is fed through a fuel flow-control valve 6-1 and air, through an air flow- control valve 7-1. The temperature inside the firing chamber 1 is detected and controlled by the actuation of the fuel flow-control valve 6-1. The oxygen concentration or the carbon monoxide concentration inside the firing chamber 1 is detected and, by the actuation of the air flow-control valve 7-1, so controlled in accordance with specified values as to create an oxidizing atmosphere or a reducing atmosphere inside the firing chamber 1. |
